Woodridge Farm offers a total sales preparartion service, from weaning right through to Ready to Run.
Woodridge Farm presented one of the top lots at The 2006 Ready to Run Sale at Karaka. The colt by Volksraad out of Cape City thus a half brother to The 2000 Guineas winner, Magic Cape, sold for $130000 on the first day of the sale to a Hong Kong buyer.
Each year Alan and Galene wean not only their own foals but also many for outside clients in a stress free environment.
Yearling sales preparation is an important part of the outstanding service they provide. Every year their Karaka sales draft is presented in immaculate condition, if they are not happy with any aspect of a yearlings condition it does not go through the sales ring.
If you are looking for someone to do a professional job breaking in your young horse then Woodridge Farm should be your first point of call. Alan regularly breaks in over 40 horses a year, many for clients who come back year after year because of the way their horses are treated and handled throughout this most stressful period in a young horses life.

Being a former jockey with over 100 wins on the board while based in Southland, Alan knows what it takes to prepare a horse for racing. Woodridge Farm is a regular vendor at The Ready to Run Sale in November, the horses are pre trained on the farm on the private 550 metre sand based track then their education and preparation is completed at the nearby Matamata training facility. In 2005 Woodridge Farm, on behalf of Esker Lodge, presented at the Ready to Run Sale the Zabeel x Foreign Copy colt that was the top priced lot, being knocked down to Hong Kong buyers.
All these services are provided in a safe and friendly environment with your horses welfare the utmost priority. Veterinary advice is only minutes away should the need arise, the staff are all experienced in handling young stock and Alan and Galene live on the property so they are always available to discuss your needs and wishes.
